Cruz de Alba is located in the heart of the Ribera del Duero, with the famous Vega Sicilia as a neighbor. Ribera del Duero only obtained its DO status in 1982, but now produces some of the most sought-after Spanish wines. The Tempranillo grape can be called the absolute star of the region, with 95% of the plantings - as is also the case in the vineyards of Cruz de Alba.
Winemaker Sergio Avila cultivates the vineyards in a biodynamic and homeopathic way. This means working in harmony with nature and with minimal intervention in the entire winemaking process. The grapes from the oldest vineyards of the estate are the basis for the estate's top wine, Los Hoyales, a sensational wine that perfectly combines power and finesse.
